A New Season Begins

Happy Easter from Casino Speedway! The season is fast approaching and as of today we are only one short week from the 2014 Casino Speedway Car Show - Test N' Tune. Next Sunday, April 27th, at the speedway... the car show will run from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. and we'll get the cars on the track from 3:30 to 6:30 so the buys can test out their machines. The pits will open around 10:30 a.m.
Over the past 2-3 weeks (when the weather has cooperated) we've been busy at the track preparing for the 2014 racing season. Last Tuesday, Woodtick and I started working the bleachers and Al has been busy preparing the racing surface and will lay down the final racing surface shortly.
Last fall, we moved the walls in corners 1 & 2 and leveled the track from north to south & east to west. A big thanks to the Lake Area Tech instructors and students on doing a fine job. Some people will aske what the heck was I thinking but I'm confident that all the hard work will greatly benefit racing at Casino Speedway. Many more projects are underway or are in the early planning stages, so I'll try to keep folks updated as the season progresses.
As for the 2014 track schedule, we are excited to once again host... 3 Advantage RV Modified Tour presented by Watertown Ford Chrysler events, the H.O.T.R.O.D. Tour Vintage Cars, a couple Late Model specials including the 2nd Annual Marilyn Olson Late Model Race,.... and yes folks, we'll be having the Super Stocks visit the speedway this summer on May 17th and 18th. And don't forget to buy those Country Rock 'N Nights concert tickets on the Casino Speedway website!!! We are really excited to be able to put on such a HUGE concert event right here in Watertown, SD. Lastly, we won't be having a Fall Shootout this year, but plan on bringing the event back in 2015.
On a final note, we can only pray that Mother Nature keeps the rain away on the weekends this summer, so we can once again prove to all of WISSOTAland on why Casino Speedway is the fastest 1/4 mile in the Northern Plains. Until next time, Kathy and I would like to wish everyone safe travels over the holiday weekend and best wishes on a successful 2014 racing season. See ya at the races!
